We celebrated Elizabeth's first birthday in LA. She looked really cute in her first Han-Bok (Korean traditional clothing) that I almost wished that I had one just the same. We were so worried about her crying during the party that we were determined to keep her happy as well as we could, which meant that I had to hold her the entire time. Gosh, it was so tiring! I was sweating in my Han-Bok. But at least she was better than we expected. She didn't cry and she kept her hat on (most of the time!). Great job!

With the Korean tradition, when a baby reaches her first birthday, he/she gets to choose between rice (plenty of food in life), thread (long life), money (prosperity), pencil (academic) and these days people even put out more creative objects like the stethoscope, golf ball, toothbrush, etc. And this time around, we got rice, thread, money, pencil, computer mouse, and a toy hammer (for law). We all guessed that she would have picked the rice (because she loves to pick up tiny things from the floor and put into her mouth) or the toy hammer (because it was very colorful and new to her). She was going after the toy hammer but to our surprise, she picked up the pencil instead. So, both Liz and David chose pencils. It was very surprising indeed because throughout the party, she didn't eye on the pencil for once.
Overall, she did good, better than our expectation.
Mine, she has grown. She looks sooo cute in outfit. Of course, you look great as well, Wendy! I'm so bumped we missed you guys while in LA. Aidan could had a great time with David and Liz.

Happy Birthday Elizabeth! She looks sooo cute and you guys look fantastic too! You look very good in the Korean traditional hanbok :)
The party looks fantastic, so colorful and pretty! I love it and I love the idea of letting the child pick one of the items. I have to try that! So cool!
Btw, in response to your question about weaning. Lucas self-wean himself at about 11 months old but I continued to pump and he had breastmilk until 14months and moved to homo milk. I am not sure how it is gg to be with Linus but I plan to b/f as long as I can. :)
