My Little Artist

David likes to draw. So I took the risk of letting him try to paint. Thanks to those washable paints, David gets to explore something new. At first, he would only make random strokes, trying out the different brushes. Then, he would mix up all the colors and ended up with some sort of muddy color paint to play with. As he was painting, I would ask him what he was drawing. He would tell me things like, "There was an explosion here, the airplane fell!", or "This is Bacon!", "It's a snake!", "Shamu!", "it's raining!", stuff like that. It's funny to see him draw. I did let Elizabeth try it but she ended up painting her hands and the table, so I guess she will have to wait a little longer.

We got this small table and chair from IKEA. It works well for David's height now. Liz loves it too.

How Liz eats her noodles

4th of July in NYC

This was Elizabeth's first time visiting NYC. And it was David's fourth time! It was a drastic change from our simple, slow paced life in Syracuse but the kids loved the hustle bustle of the big city. They were so distracted by the constant passing of the emergency vehicles, buses, trains, dogs and people. It was very tiring but a lot of fun. We were glad that the weather was nice and that it was not too crowded during the holiday weekend.

NYC is about 4.5 hours from where we live. We left the house on Friday morning, aiming to get to the city by lunch time. 15 minutes into the drive, David threw up! Eww... it stank up the car. Poor thing was uncomfortable and had some motion sickness. He was all smiles after the vomit. We took an early break, got out at a nearby Burger King parking lot and cleaned him up. He was fine for the rest of the trip.

We were staying at Flushing, Queens. They have a small China town there. I had a great time exploring the area. I was so happy to find a Ten Ren tea store there. I missed having Boba tea badly. The next day, we went into the city, had lunch at our favorite Korean restaurant. Then, we went to Time Square. We took some pictures, showed the kids the huge Toys R Us. They loved it there. So many attractions, so many toys. Our next stop was IKEA. We bought so much stuff there this time. It was crazy. After that, we were just too tired to do anything else. We almost missed the fireworks on TV. We slept early and were ready to leave the next day.

That sums up our short trip to NYC. Hopefully when we go again next time, it'll be much easier without Liz running off on her own! :)

Ge-ge!

Guess what? Elizabeth is finally calling David, "Ge-ge"! It's really sweet when she says it. If only they behave as sweet as that, my days would be blissful. They are still as wild as monkeys! They love to scream and chase each other around the house. Now Liz is working on saying "gou-gou" for dogs. Too bad it sounds just like "ge-ge" still. haha.

The weather has been warm here. It's just that we are having scattered thunderstorm almost every day this week. I hope the weather will be nicer this July 4th weekend.
