Off we went to the Letchworth again this week. But this time, we have David's Grandpa joining us. We didn't get an early start for this trip because we all overslept and we forgot to set the alarm! So, we couldn't really take our time there, enjoying the view. We had to rush back for my first OBGYN visit. Nevertheless, we had a good time, got some nice, colorful photos for Grandpa to show off back in LA. *grin* David was cranky on the way there. But after a brief butt spanking break and chips bribing, he was as good as an angel again.
The OB visit went well, it was shorter than I thought. I just had a bunch of tests and we went over the medical history. In a month, I should be seeing the doctor and maybe have our first ultrasound. The most exciting part was being able to hear the baby's heartbeat today.
David's Grandpa is here! He has been spoiling him like mad ever since he arrived. Talks about grandparents' love, huh. Today we went to Cass Park again to show Grandpa around and for a walk. The weather was great and David had a great time chasing sea gulls.
After the walk, we stopped by Target because Grandpa wanted to buy a toy for David. So he got him this big fire truck to push around and it has some Lego-ish blocks in it. Then, David threw the worst tantrum ever yet.. on the way home, just because he wanted to play with it. Nothing new, huh.
Sunday after church, we did quite a bit today. Busy but fun. We went to this taco place called "Viva Cantina" for lunch. Pretty good, nice and light. Then we went to Alphabet Soup to buy a kite for David. As usual, we had a hard time getting him out of the store. Then, we stopped by home to change and set up the kite. After that, we headed out to Cass Park to play. The park was insanely packed. Most of the soccer fields was taken. So many kids out there. We spent some time flying the kite and David was busy stalking boats and dogs. The weather was just great for end of October. Then we drove another 15 minutes along the Cayuga Lake to a creamery to grab some yummy ice cream. Man, it was delicious, as you can see on the picture.
After an almost 3 hours long car ride, we finally arrived at Letchworth State Park yesterday afternoon. It was rainy and gloomy along the way but luckily it wasn't raining as much in the park. The view during the drive was spectacular on its own, so we thought the color change would have peaked in the park too. But it was not the case. Only a few parts of the park were golden and red, the rest was still pretty green. So hopefully by next week when David's grandpa comes, it'll be nice and red.
We loved the trip despite being a bit disappointed by the many green trees. David was snacking all the way there, got me all tired feeding him constantly. At least this year, he didn't have any massive poop in the car! Eww.. just thinking about it makes me feel yucky. He enjoyed it there, this time he could actually walk around and explore the place, play in the mud, pick up fallen leaves and all the messy stuff. He was pretty good at spotting cows, horses, sheep and train now. He would make the corresponding sounds too, so we knew what he saw. This time, we weren't too lazy to use the tripod, and thus more family pictures. We were getting pretty proficient at it too. One shot, that's all we need.
This was our first time going to the Science Center. I didn't expect much from it because you know, David is just 21 months. I figured that he probably wouldn't understand much about science yet. But, they have enough buttons and gadgets that are interesting enough to keep him busy for 2 hours. I guess that exceeds my expectations. The visit elevated his curiosity that when we got home, he ventured far enough to mess with our humidifier, opened it up, and put his toys in the water...*sigh*
The Boldt Castle at theThousand Islands

We went to the Thousand Islands last Friday since David's grandma was here with us. It was a nice day for a long trip. We had to drive for about 2.5 hours to go up to Watertown. I was sitting in the back with David to keep him distracted and busy along the way. No toy really worked for more than 2 minutes. Good thing we brought the tripod with us. It lasted the longest. David was very busy playing with it, trying to turn all the knobs and extend the legs.
So, we got on this Uncle Sam's boat tour. It was a 3 hour tour, going around the lake, introducing the different islands on both the U.S. side and the Canada side. It was nice. And at last, we got off on the Heart Island and visited the Boldt Castle.
Man, after learning the history of the castle, I was like... gosh, it is so romantic! That island was owned by a millionaire, George C. Boldt, and the castle was built back in the 1900s for his wife! (the history) After that I was nagging James (playfully) that I want an island of heart shape with a castle on it! haha cool stuff.

David finally got his first tricycle. It is a gift from his grandma. David was very excited from the beginning. He was so eager to help out his daddy in putting it together. The only thing he was unhappy about was that he has to wear the helmet! It will take awhile to get him used to it. I kept telling him how good he looked when wearing it, then he slowly started to put it on himself.
Church Picnic at Clark Reservation State Park
1 Comments Published by Putri Laut on 2007/10/02 at 12:33 AM.It had been a busy weekend, not as kickback as I wanted to be, but we all had a great time on Sunday. We drove all the way to Syracuse to join the old church's Sunday picnic out at the Clark Reservation State Park. It was great seeing the people again. For some reasons, they feel like a family to me, just like with the people from my old work place. I wish I could see them more often.
The picnic was fun, great weather, great activities, delicious food. David was busy playing all morning. I guess he was excited about meeting his friends again. Too bad I was all worn out afterwards. By the end of the day, I was having severe headache, dizzy and stuff. I had to rest for the entire day today.
